not very many people have had rear seal issues

and those have typically ordered through the dealerships.

have you tired VM specialist? - http://vmdieselspecialist.com/

they're the go to guys if we can't find parts.

for US/Canada - IDparts has been very helpful -not sure about deliveries to UK

Yup, I'd also suggest VM Specialist, especially that they are in your country, so shipping would be fast and cheap. I bet they have everything for this engine.

thanks, may be cheaper even with shipping, some jeep stuff can be expensive here.

What else is worth swapping while the autobox is out? Only the rear main is leaking but its 8 hours labour I don't want to be paying for again soon

Consider changing the Torque Converter if you are experiencing any slipping or chattering when in lockup. TC's are a known weak point... :roll:

Make sure your crankcase venting system is working properly (valve not stuck, hoses not blocked, kinked, etc.) This is the most common cause of rear main seal failures on these motors. Also, if you have high miles, check for grooving where the seal rides on the crank and excessive end play. It is a big project to change the seal. You do not want to just replace it without determining what made it leak.
