Critical thing is preventing the hose from either collapsing or being blocked with ice in winter. Either way it will blow out your rear main seal or worse.

I'd say just get the GDE tune if you haven't fone this already, it will keep your intake clean with no egr soot. You won't need a provent or an EHM... Many people with GDE tune don't have any of them. Some oil in the intake won't hurt, as long as there is no egr soot in there, which it isn't with GDE tune. And upgrading turbo hoses with silicon, you can fill them up with oil and they won't break. Obviously you do what you want, it's your own vehicle, but why would you complicate yourself with EHM or provent when some silicone hoses (Mishimoto/Samco) and GDE tune would do all that and more? Plus as it was stated previously, if your EHM clogs due to freezing condensation, get ready to pull engine out to replace the rear main. EHM is too risky IMO. GDE tune is elegant, increases performance, mileage and keeps the engine clean.

The only reason I have the provent is because I installed before GDE tune, and this is the only reason... too lazy to take it out.

Yes I just got the GDE ECO tune and I have my silicone hoses on they're way to me as we speak, I love the weeks elbow intake and will be doing that in a week or so but I was always leary of the EHM mod, I dont think i will do it since my luck I will ruin something further down the road lol.. This climate is pretty harsh during winter here. Thanks for all your Help guys!

I have the EHM and the GDE Eco Tune. I'm fine with blowing out bypass when I am sitting. both recirc's egr and ccv don't help the system.

Personally I have never been a fan of the EH mod. On the 6.5 diesels or any other vehicle. I've always thought it was good to have the suction on the engine compartment

I've pretty much ready everything on this Forum and love all of your info you guys post.. I havent done the EHM yet, rolling with 114k on an ECO tune that was just done and 2nd gen filter head, muffler delete and ordered silicone hoses... I'd prefer the provent unless I can do my own EHM and tube it into an aluminum catch can somewhere.. Any of you have the write up on here somewhere I cant find it. This is pretty much a must have mod.

A must have mod is gde tune, if you already have it, I wouldn't worry about ehm/provent. Provent is a nicer alternative and more elegant, you can buy provent from idparts.com and it's I believe around 140-ish.

ok looks like its on my list of to do's.. but basically I'm just capping off the old hose that was going to it and running a new tube/provent (whatever i decide to go with) and then I'm done correct?

The worst part about the stock crankcase vent hose is that any oil that passes through it gets deposited in the intake hose, causing the rubber to deteriorate away. EGR only compounds the problem by mixing exhaust soot with the oily vapor causing a buildup of crud that slowly clogs the intake manifold. You can make your own catch-can for your EHM, or buy one like this from Summit. Keep it all in the engine compartment and it souldnt freeze up in winter.

I'll add the EGR delete elbow kit, the lift pump and the FS2500 as more necessary updates. I'm a firm believer in all the upgrades mentioned. Except the Elephant hose mod. Later when Time allows or if somebody comes up with something I like, I would do a cold air intake with a different filter - I've never cared for flat panel air filters. I would also like to do a good stainless exhaust when the time presents itself. I'd like to see somebody sell a total 3" package.

I think diesel guy has a 3 inch pipe, not sure though if it's stainless steel. But I think a regular straight pipe would outlast the vehicle.

But you do not need it, just do not overfill the oil over 3/4 dipstick. If you put oil to max, then the oil mist from the ccv will slightly increase, at least this is what I notice on mine.

True: Some engines such as my Dodge Cummins came from the factory stock with the CCV plumbed to the underside of the engine, no cat, and no EGR. It does not leak nor does it smoke any out the CCV pipe. What does that tell you about what is needed on our CRD Jeeps? Bottom line; do what makes sense to you....

I never had an issue with the tuna can and didn't mind the oil blowing through the compressor and intake. Plus, the oil mist is fuel of a sort for free. The big difference is our 6.5s didn't have an intercooler. That said, I'm still not putting this on my list for the CRD.
