Hi,
It is possible to have a second alternator on a CRD 2005 ?
Also it is possible to have a 24Vdc one ?
Why...., I have a remote house how is runnig on 24 Vdc battery bank,
Already pass 2 generator (gaz) in 4 years,
Look to "plug" my Jeep to the battery bank to charge it.
(I already have solar panel(2Kw), but in winter in give me low power).
Thanks for any reply.
JP.

Anything is possible with enough money and engineering skills.

The big question is, where do you plan to mount it?

I suppose you could remove the viscous heater and replace it with the alternator of your choice.
You would have to fabricate a proper bracket and get a different size belt, then figure out the
wiring and hope you will be able to close the hood when you are done.

Of course, a TRUE suvivalist would just jack up the rear axle, attach a belt drive from rear wheel
to a generator and put it in gear.

Why not just buy a diesel generator for your house instead of messing with the KJ?

Right, I got a ramsond 6500 watts peak/30 amps portable diesel generator (works with 240 and 110v) for a bit more than 1500, this was in 2012. It has Bosch injection and cast iron piston and sleeve. I don't think it's worth transforming the crd into a very expensive diesel generator, but if anybody wants that, a decent power inverter for some lights and a TV, maybe even an energy efficient small refrigerator, is more than enough.

But in all honesty I'd like to find out some options for a dual alternator setup for crd, this is very useful especially for offroading/camping/heavy winching.
