 Post subject: low cool light on dash

In the last 2 days my dash has dinged an flash low cool but I've checked everything an it seems there's plenty its slightly low in the overflow so I don't know any help would be great. O yea the operating temp is normal so I dunno

The low cool light is triggered by a float switch in the coolant tank. If the light comes on, it usually means your coolant is low.
Go ahead and add some water to the tank to see if that makes the light turn off. You can't hurt anything by doing so.

If the coolant level is ok and if adding some coolant doesn't make the problem go away then it's likely a bad switch. Uncommon but not impossible; should be easy to replace.

May just be some buildup on the float assembly too. I've had it happen on washer fluid floats, but not coolant units. Hot water and a nylon brush may be an easy fix FWIW.
