OK. Here is my rant.

So I think at this point, I have replaced almost every part on this jeep, seems like it anyways and it still continues to have problems. I have put 40k on it and probably spend at least 4k fixing all the stupid things that went wrong. This past weekend I invested about a grand in to the transmission replacing the TC, pump and PML pan. Now third gear is slipping and a rebuild is going to be more money out of pocket, at least a grand that I don't have. I have come to hate this little jeep. I often hope someone texting drives in to me or I get car jacked. I think the only thing on there cars that is worth a darn is the engine and everything else was an after thought. The electrical issues is just on going. I have learned when I have anything related to the transmission limp mode or stalling, it is MOST likely the wiring next to the transmission. I have wrapped the turbo down pipe and replaced all the wire loom on the wires that connect to the crank sensor and transmission. Now I don't have those issues. Why on gods green earth would any engineer think it is a good idea to have a sensor that the engine depends on right next to the hottest part of the car??

I will say it is cool to drive something that not a whole lot of other people have, but lets face it, it isn't a rare sports car, it is a Jeep Liberty and it is costing me more than an English car from the 80's.

I think I have reached the breaking point. I think I am going to cut my losses fix the transmission, drive it for a few months and get rid of it. I think I may up with a GM product with a duramax or a ford F250. No more mopar for me.

Read some of the other forums, Ford, GM, foreign cars; they all have their own horror stories, Chrysler is not alone in this category!!! I owned one Ford, NEVER again, I will walk first!!!! :roll:

Just got to work through them, anything with an engine has problems. Had an 06 GMC 4500 with sticky injectors, $2000 fix. Had an 04 ford f350 with the 6.0L that ate its own injector, 2 engine rebuilds and $10,000 fix with a half assed ford warranty. 96 international 4700 bought brand new leaked coolant on a long trip, scored 2 liners and pistons. Bought a brand new $350,000 john deere tractor that had to go back in to get completely split apart because of a leaky gasket.

It does seem like some crds have more problems than others, just replace the parts with best available.

I am looking in to eating the cost of my most recent fix and buy a rebuilt/reman transmission. Probably sell the two converters on eBay or Craigslist. This one lasted 150k, so 2500 would be worth it if it lasts as long.

Anyone know where I can get one? of if you are in the Austin area, any recommendations for transmission repair?

Seems like I need a crank sensor too. The jeep left me stranded at a stoplight in downtown Austin during rush hour. The Heep just shut off and refused to start. Then after I had it towed to a repair shop, it started right away. Although it was running strange, kind of rough and then it sounded like it miss fired. I restarted and it was just fine. Drove it home and was totally fine. It is NOT air in the lines. This is an electrical issue. Crank sensor seems like a good starting point.

I understand the problems you are having I have a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI ALH with all the emissions deletes, a 2000 International 9200 semi truck with a Cummins ISM 10.8 liter motor, a 2004 International school bus with a DT 466E engine, a 1993 Chevrolet 2500 with fully mechanical 6.5 Turbo Diesel just like the military hummers have, and a 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD and the CRD has the least amount of miles of all my vehicles and costs the most amount of money to keep going dollars per mile so to say. First it was worn out rockers that had to be done twice because the mechanic screwed up the first time, then it was a leaky intercooler, then it was air that kept getting in the fuel filter head, then it started developing hesitations and heavy smoke on acceleration, and now its back at the shop again due to a dirty intake manifold that didn't get cleaned like I asked when it was apart to do the rockers. Fortunately I haven't had any transmission issues yet.
