Hi "Layback".

Finally jumped into your Wisconsin CRD discussion. You know I will go up to your get together; my cabin is practically next door.

New CRD owner here. Elkhorn, WI. Just put in the Euro Torque converter and Weeks intake kit this weekend. What should I do next?

You should get a GDE tune! Also change the Timing Belt. If it hasn't been charged you need to do it asap.

Timing belt was done at 96k. I emailed GDE today and according to them it has the Eco tune from a previous owner.

Then I would do a lift pump. Sounds like you got a CRD that was loved.

It does have an aftermarket pump mounted in front of the tank. The gas gauge does not work correctly though, So I was thinking of putting an in tank pump in.

I'm in Spooner. There are a couple of CRDs in Rice Lake and I see a couple in Duluth Mn from time to time.

It depends on the MOS schedule for May, but I might be in for a wrenching weekend.

If anyone in the area needs to do a timing belt, I have the tools, and have done two now.

I might have to take you up on that. Mine will be due for timing belt in spring. Live down by the Illinois border but have a cabin up in Solon Springs south of Superior. A couple of CRD's from Shell Lake area sold on Ebay during the summer.

SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN HERE!!

I see a few around the area from time to time. I'm on my second KJ. My first one was a 2.4L 4x4 that i truly enjoyed, just didn't have enought low end grunt for my country living lifestyle. (firewood, boat, trailer, etc) and putting it it 4Low got old really quick.

Picked up my 06 CRD for a steal. 66,000miles on it. It was blowing starter fuses randomly. The fellow that had it took it to a lot of shops, everyone wanted to replace the wiring harness, (for a lot of money) No one could find the location of the short. Even flooded the engine bay from what he told me. I bought it for the remainder of the loan, which wasn't much. (He really didn't want to sell it, I had to follow up call multiple times, But it had been sitting in his driveway for the past year and I think his wife just wanted rid of it) My intention being that I would run a seperate wire down to the starter and hook it up to a push button in the cab. (don't know why nobody else thought of this, doesn't look factory I guess) Fuse only blew when engaging the starter so the cpu and all was still working. Long story short, I went to the junkyard, came out with a baggy of fuses for my starter and started shaking wires. Found the general area of the short. Only gone through 2 fuses the 2 years I've owned it. Haven't had to hook up my pushbutton starter. Just carry my baggy of fuses in my glovebox. Couldn't be happier.

I too need a timing belt done, but afraid that's alittle beyond my comfort zone for repairs, but really wanting to learn. If a get together is in the works for timing belt replacement, count me in, as I can't afford shop rates. More than willing to travel a bit too.

This forum has treated me well for my 2.4 and I've learned a lot about my DIESEL too. Keep up all the good info all! Internet is amazing isn't it?

So was thinking ( i know that was dangerous) that maybe have a meet and greet
at a wing joint somewhere. Seems like we have some of the wisconsin owners around southeastern WI.

Hear your crd stories :2cents: or just tell lies :ROTFL: (did I say that outloud)

1- buffalo wild wings hwy 100 and oklahoma
2- quaker state and lube mooreland blvd and hwy 43

Lets see who would be interested in this on a Saturday Jan 24th 2015.
Time to be determined yet.

1- afternoon
2- evening

Please reply with your thoughts and preferences

Id be game, afternoon or evening. Either location works. Id pick Quaker if I really had to make a choice, but its not really too big of a deal.

I am a very recent 06 CRD owner that I bought from a forum member who just rebuilt the engine.
I am a (lamenting) Packers fan that lives in the NW suburbs of Chicago (Long Grove) but consider WI home.
I picked up this CRD for its fuel mileage and 4wd capabilities. I chase storms in the spring and am looking forward to the fuel endurance and confidence to tackle unimproved roads from time to time.

I also have a Mercedes Sprinter with a GDE tune that I like to wrench on. Nice to see an avid group of CRD owners in the area!
