Since nearly new, I have done 3,000-3,500 mile oil/filter changes, used 5w-30 or 10w-30 Mobil 1, and I've had the SEGR in play.

Which of the following rocker arms would you guess shows wear from my engine with 140k miles on it?

One of these is from that engine, one is from a "new engine that was only run for a few hours on a test bench" and one is badly worn.

Is this some sort of silly quiz or do you really not know?

Left: looks brand new
Middle: rocker tip looks dimpled like it was being hammered into the valve stem
Right: looks like normal wear

Your finger: nails are too clean. Get some grease in them and get your CRD running again :P

Yes, that's it! Silly quiz! Thanks for playing. (sarcasm)

I just got off yet another phone call with a certain overseas parts vendor for our engines. The reason I asked the question above is that I paid them for a set of new-ish rocker assemblies.

Hello,
We sell from low mileage test engines, the picture we sent last night shows high used rocker assembly. We haven't sent any rockers that resemble these photos here. The engines have been in storage since 2007 - 2009 and have not turned since, that is somewhere between 5 and 7 years.

So...the "picture we sent last night" refers to the one on the left, with the pit clearly worn into the rocker arm by the valve. The one on the far right is one of the ones they sent me, which supposedly comes from a test engine with low hours on it. The one in the middle is from my engine.

I am simply trying to do a check-in with the people who participate here who are actually experienced with these engines, to get their take on whether I have been taken or not.

That phone call this morning *may* have resolved things: they say they are going to send me 14 more hand-picked assemblies, looking for wear on them, play in the bearing, and for the newer HLA model. I will have to pay shipping on them.
