In class today we put my 06 crd on the lift and tryed to find the what caused the sound. Sounds like something is skipping in between the front different and transfer case. Only happens s in 4 wheel drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! |

I'm not exactly sure what you are hearing, but the front drive shaft CV joints are known to wear out and make noise. When they do they usually make noise all the time while rolling. 2wd and 4wd. If either boot on the shaft is torn or missing you should replace the joint. |

I get an occasional skip/pop in FT, always when making a sharp turn and more often in reverse e.g. maneuvering into or out of a parking space. I'm pretty sure one of the wheels locks or skips when this happens but the pop seems to come more from front drivetrain. I assumed it was normal. |

Found out the problem was that my father (previous owner) drove it in 4 part time in the winter for years. Apparently 4 part time is not like auto 4wd (feel dumb for not knowing) anyways this lead to the cv joint to go.need to replace the entire driftshaft as the gear looking thing on the driveshaft is now busted. |
