http://www.dropbox.com/sc/m5wd93oc898z2gc/AAAgoySpg46x1rD5QpT3SVJPa pictures of my engine build, bought a 2006 that I was told had a fuel injector replaced and the previous owner could not get started after replacing the injector. engine cranked over hard and chirped so I pretty much knew it was in bad shape, during teardown I found out how bad it was, had an oil filter on it that was completely dry inside never had oil run through it, oil pan full of sludge and pickup clogged. 3 spun rod bearings, piston rings were glued to the pistons with sludge so bad that cylinder 1 liner came out when knocking out the piston. all the rockers were worn so bad the roller had fallen out of 3 of them. the intake was almost completely clogged with carbon from egr. so I found a supposed good short block from a guy in grand rapids mi, turned out to have a deep scratch in 1 liner and a scuffed piston. a new liner and used piston from the other engine all new bearings, rings, head studs, rockers and lifters, new turbo, timing kit, water pump, thermostat, and so many parts I cant even remember I have it back together and running. only to need motor mounts, cut off the melted cat, and may need an ac compressor. |

I am confused by the reference to "melted cat". We have a "filter" than can plug up, but since there is nothing burning in there like a real cat, I doubt it is "melted". Not sure what the inspections are like where you live, but you can easily break out the matrix and keep the appearance of OEM emissions. Just don't make the mistake I did and throw the material away. You can supposedly get up to $200 from a recyclers for this very rare material. DOC |

The previous owner drilled holes through the honeycomb and it is full of oil and melted from driving with a leaking turbo. There are no inspections where I live. |

Thanks for the pics. I'm curious as to how you had the engine stand fastened to the side of the block. |
