Looking to upgrade my front rotors/brake discs. Are the EBC turbo rotors slotted / drilled. Are they worth the extra expense. Or just for show. I do get a fair bit of brake fade when towing and when the rotors get hot I start to get wheel wobble. Any advice |

The Adaptive One ceramics from NAPA and the Reactive One Rotors are what I run on mine now. I'm sure it's overkill but they don't make noise, they stop great, and they don't muck the rims up. Your call. |

You can never go wrong with brembo, but it's an expensive choice for us in the states since you'll need to buy them from Europe through Amazon or other sites. I paid for front rotors and pads about $300. This is what I have now and I honestly love the brakes. Longevity, efficiency, noise, everything. Also. I hear that Napa premium is a very good choice and made in usa. For a decent price, American high quality stuff, that's what I would get after brembo. |

I put the lifetime warranty ultra premium napa rotors on my CRD and F250. Never had a warping problem on the CRD, but I warped 3 sets of rotors on my f250. I put the napas on a few years ago and they have held up great. |

I used the power stop slotted and drilled rotors from rockauto on mine. It's got 'em all the way around now and it stops on a dime. Best thing I've done to it so far. |

I probably opt for brembo being this side of the pond. Brembo do standard rotors here for £90 or is it worth paying £200 for the drilled/slotted version, are they worth the extra cash for holes? |

I have the EBC slotted/drilled discs and greenstuff pads, and they are excellent. I've never used Brembos so I can't comment. Check the size of the rears though; on the 2005 you can find 2 different sizes for the parking brake drum. EBC were very helpful in changing the rears when I ordered the wrong size by mistake. Very quick delivery too. |

I probably go with your advice on the EBC, seen them for around £130 ish. How did your tow bar recall go, still not got round to booking mine in yet. |

I think the different rear sizes are for the parking drum, but I'd take measurements anyway! No problem. As I mentioned, I have a Mopar bar and as far as I can tell they check spacing with a template, the bar itself for sharp or ragged edges and the bolt area for rust and damage. Mine was fine, so that's it. |

I ordered the complete Powerstop pad and rotor set from Amazon for around $300. I'm very happy with them 6 months later. No corrosion with their plaiting, and the grooves and slots look great! The parking brake is the drum in hat style, so those are actually shoes not pads. Make sure your parking brake is off when you try to remove the rear rotors. |

I have removed the rear rotors just to see what condition the brake shoes are in almost down to the metal also rear brake pads much the same so will replace the lot. will order the small parts kit as well. As for the fronts I purchased a cheep pair of rotors a couple years ago and was nether happy with them wheel shake under hard braking. Probably go with the EBC turbo discs all round with the green stuff pads as mentioned by Lancer (easy to obtain here) Thank all for your info

One thing more the emergency/ hand brake when you pull it up hard some times the handle seems to slip jump up. Took a quick look today and seems to be some form of clutch. The cable don't seem to be connected direct to the lever. Is there any mods for this, seems an unusual design. Is it a serviceable item or complete replacement. |

I just ordered the kit from idparts.com. He usually has decent stuff. It says Bosch rotors and WBR simi-metallic pads. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Stay away from NAPA semi-metallic. They have a serious pad imprinting problem. I have had excellent results with ART rotors and Porterfield R4S pads. DOC |

Since we're talking brakes, is there anything strange or unique on changing front brakes on a 4x4 KJ? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Everything is pretty straight forward as with most brake work. What I find very important, clean the sliding pins from the caliper, lube them using ceramic high temp grease (the purple one), inspect the rubber protective boots for piercing and in case the caliper doesn't slide easy enough on the sliding pins (the ones that go through the rubber "accordion" boot), take out the grooved rubber booth from the sliding pin since is known to swallow and create dragging brakes. What I found almost unbelievable is that after cleaning the rear rotors inside where the hand brake shoes are, my hand brake is way more efficient. I did have about 50k worth of dust and rust in there... |

I'll second that. I installed Powerstop pads and slotted/drilled rotors on all 4 corners (also from Rock Auto) on my 06 about 5 months ago. I upgraded to the Truck & Tow pads for the rears. The braking performance is amazing. I get controlled braking well past the point where I think other pads/rotors would lock up and/or the ABS would take over. I do notice a very slight squeak/squeal under damp weather conditions, and I recently noticed a brake dust buildup on the front wheels. I don't wash my Libby very often, so I don't think the dusting is a big problem. The only towing I did since installed the brakes was a 70 mile trip with a loaded 6x12 U-Haul (slate pool table plus furniture). The trailer had surge brakes, and the trip was completely uneventful. They were well worth the price and I would not hesitate to recommend them. |

Are there any torque specifications for the all the bolts that hold the calipers and carriers in place? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
