So I just tore the old sport down today, I have the head off, and I am planning on putting the new head on tomorrow. Can you put the studs on and then the head and gasket or are there clearance issues, and do you need to put the studs in after the head and gasket? TIA Bob |

I think there are clearance issues if you put the studs in first. There are two guide sleeves for proper alignment of the head. No need to put the studs in first. |

What he said, I tried to do studs first but the head hits the body before it can go back all the way. |

The depth that the studs sit in the block is also a question. You need to do the studs after installing the head. If the studs are too deep then the nuts will not have enough thread on top in order to properly compress the gasket Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

I kind of figured I would not be able to put on the head afterwords but I asked any ways. So I guess I should just have enough stud sticking out to catch all the threads on the nuts? |

If I remember right, proper technique is to have one or two threads extra protruding past the nut. You needn't worry about clearance if you do that. |
