I just pulled crd2 out of the garage after a head gasket, arp studs, weeks mod, etc. I was using the scanner to work out stariting and running issues. Finally got it going, sounds ok.
Backed out went, then went forward and I was in the limp mode, no power.
The scanner would no longer communicate, did all the required and extra stuff for hours to no avail.
Cked the scanner on crd1 and a tdi and it worked fine. Disconnected battery. Let sit for 10 minutes, still no link. It s got a GED tune. Again it starts and sounds fine. Can goose it up for high revs, no problem. Cked vacuum at modulator and had 28 psi. All fluids normal.
Only thing missing to my knowledge are the fuel return clips, but they are not leaking.

How are the pins / wires in the DLC? Understand they can push back and not make contact...rare but possible.

True. I cked and sprayed with electronic cleaner. No physical changes. Working then not working. Was the limp mode concurrent? Not sure, I was only. Idling inside shop cking for fuel land oil leaks, plugs etc.
A concern I had was that all the egr plugs are just hanging. I put tape over them for good measure. Including the maf sensor. The scanner worked for a couple of days while I was cking it out.

Chrysler has a very odd link with scan tools. It sends out a "heartbeat" and expects a certain response back from the scantool. If it doesn't, it won't link or it will prematurely end your session. Try a couple more times, maybe keep your scantool installed while turning the car on

An actron auto scanner plus.
I replaced the plug with a salvage yard plug, no change.
If I go in the manual mode to start the diagnostics it will link about one in ten times.
So I can get a link or have gotten enough to get back on the road and clear the codes.
Crd1 will read it right away as well as the tdi. I tried to link this am, gave up. But she s running fine. Had the exhaust system cut out yesterday and inserted a flowmaster muffler.
Sounds good. I was surprised at the low DB
