GDE FT eco tune, Sasquatch elbow kit, Sammies... installed yesterday, driven today. Hit the key this morning, ~22 F outside. 1. took about 2 more miles to reach operating temp. 2. as before, no OD until a certain temp is reached. Not sure if it's engine or trans proctored. No complaints, just explaining the maiden trip. 3. My half tank of fuel now reads 1/4 4. first long grade I climbed, shudder. Next hill, a few miles later, no shudder... but by now everything was probably a lot closer to operating temp. This is with the cruise set at 62. Rolling through the same hills @70 was effortless, and shudderless. 5. I was a little surprised (and happy) at the torque rise upon going up these hills... it's quite measureable by the seat of pants dyno. There is definitely 'something there' that wasn't before... Which of course is exactly why Chrysler detuned these in the first place. To save the TC. So, for now, will take it easy on these kind of roads, and it's winter. Don't use cruise too much anyways.. ice and snow. Next? Motor mounts. And next spring will be the tb and TC at the same time. Whilst battery was out, I re routed the engine block heater cord so it was no longer UNDER the battery All in all, It's exactly what just about everyone else says I'd expect from these products. |

#2 no overdrive has nothing directly to do with GDE ECU tunes as far as I know it's directly related to tranny fluid temp. Indirectly GDE cuts off the viscous heater a bit earlier than stock which might very indirectly slow tranny coolant temp rise. Heck my overdrive won''t engage for the first little bit here in Tally when the temps in the 20sF but my viscous relay is pulled so it never works. |

I knew I had to 'wait' for everything to warm up before the ultimate test! (in OD) I was also kinda surprised at how much the sammies grow.. but on the other hand, the oem's with the protective sheath may been doing the same, just couldn't see it with the covers. And tomorrow.. the 'great windshield washer bottle grommet R+R'. |

For those in cold climates where jeep is parked outside, you may use some electric blankets or internal/external oil warmers. There are external warmers with magnets that work on 110v, that can be attached on demand on the transmission pan. |

Fuel economy test #1 results!!! Now running a blended winter fuel, and took Lib on her first voyage since the mods. Ran to Norfolk Ne, 150 mile round trip. Already had 30 miles on the trip odo, and 2 really cold morning starts/warm ups. Took 6.6 gallons to top off. 27.3 mpg. I drove 'normal'... had to 'show off' the power to the wife a couple times, plus ran 65 all the way. Exactly 3 mpgs more than pre-mod, on SUMMER FUEL, same route too. I'd expect 1-1.5 more on straight #2.. even when the AC is running. Since I run wally world 2 stroke in all my rams, both 12v and 24v, I have plenty of the stuff on hand... I threw in a strong pint and a half to get the mix to ~1 oz per gallon of fuel. within 5 miles, I noticed a quieter idle, very similar to the way the 12v responds as well. The 12v uses a mechanical IP pump, and idle timing is quite high compared to the 24v... and it's quite rattley The oil helps slow the flame down, and helps out with the lack of lubes in ulsd. Can't hurt here (crd) either. especially with the #1 light fuel blended in. I was told it's 50/50% at this time.. (but that's a whole 'nother thread on my rant on fuel quality) Very happy with the results of the GDE eco tune, the weeks' elbow. Recommend to a friend? YES. |
