Hello all, I have been following your forum for quite some time- great stuff!! I am from the east end of Long Island and have owned a06 liberty for about 3 years, love it!! Anyway timing belt broke= Baaaad! Broken rockers etc etc..... I found an 05 crd that was a roll over with a running motor for a very reasonable price , swapped engine into my 06,installed new timing belt, but it won't run.checked for fuel and all the obvious things but no avail, finally hooked the snap on scanner up and came up with two+ pages of codes(omg) I am wondering if this is my culprit , some codes where stored( probably from old engine ) and some active, also I checked injectors for pulse and nothing, my stored codes are as follows;p0672 #2glow plug circuit,p0673#3 glow plug circuit,p0070ambient air temperature circuit,p0610 control module options error, p0513 invalid skim key invalid key,p0530 a/c pressure sensor circuit,p0460 fuel level sensor circuit, p1614 internal recovery has occurred , p0504 brake switch 1/2 correlation and p0087 fuel rail pressure too low . The following are active codes; p0093fuel system large leak detected( most likely from bleeding system),p0671#1 glow plug circuit, and p0100 mass air flow sensor. This engine started up immediately in rolled jeep . I would tremendously appreciate any help with this as I really miss my little diesel and these crds are quite rare out here so bringing to shop / dealer is not on my to do list , thanks all and keep up the great work

Did you take the ecu and tcm from the 05 rolled and put it in your 06?
did you bleed the fuel filter head?
do you have at least 12.5 volts at battery? connections clean and tight?

Curious why you did not just fix original engine by replacing timing belt and broken rockers absent other damage.

Setting that aside exactly what happens when you try to start? For example - crank but no fire. Since you did an engine swap are you positive that you did not mix up #4 injector plug and fuel rail sensor plug; they are identical and if swapped fuel rail won't build pressure which=crank but no start.

Originally replaced belt in 06, new rockers .... But ran poorly feared bent valves??? Yes I bled fuel head, engines cranks fine but just doesn't start, I did not take ECM out of 05 because from what I understand I would have had to have reprogrammed due to skim key????will check all connections and see if I have enough voltage, thank you all for your quick responses!!!!!!!!curious does anyone know color of #4 injector wire , I labeled all but ya never know

I swapped a 2006 engine into my 2005 and it ran just fine. I kept the 2005 harness and ecu and just plugged everything in. I know its the reverse of what you are doing but it should prove that you don't need to change the ecu. The engine are the same and do not care which ECU operates them. Mine took awhile to start and I thought there was a problem but it was all due to air trapped in the fuel system.

The previous hint about the #4 injector wire could very well be your answer

Fuel Pressure is Brn\Or stripe, with Brn return
Also, seems like the connector color is gray, where the injector connectors are black

Are glow plugs the same ie. 5 volt or 7 volt?

Engine should work seeing as you are using original wiring and ECM so either a connector is in the wrong place or maybe a wire has been pinched somewhere to chassis during the engine installation. Did you ground the engine to the chassis properly? :?
