I have the exact same problem on my 06. I guess I will have to start looking for a new pulley.

I thought it could have been TC bolts as well originally so I pulled the starter as previously stated and rotated the tc 2 or 3 teeth at a time. Getting that top starter bolt out or in is literally 1 or 2 clicks at a time, that took an eternity to do.

The Crankshaft Pulley is a special order item from a dealer and it has to be shipped from Detroit, so allow some time. It will be about $100. I got mine through Avondale Dodge, Chrysler & Jeep in Arizona.

I'm surprised that IDparts would be so much more expensive, but they have it listed on their website (stock availability is unknown) for $159.

Go to:

http://www.factorymoparparts.com/5072669aa.html

They have it for $100.97. Most of the online Mopar parts departments have them from $100 to $105. I said in an earlier post that I bought it from Avondale, but I actually got it from Factory Mopar Parts this time. I buy most of my Jeep and Dodge parts from Avondale. Both were good to deal with.

Good luck!

Got the new harmonic balancer from factory mopar parts online, and finally installed it, the hardest part was getting the fan shroud off. I ended up cutting it below the bolts with a hacksaw blade and doing the fan shroud mod. The annoying rattle at idle is gone! I installed a new hayden fan clutch while I had the old one off which should help with running hot when towing. Less than an hour and a half total time. My only concern is on the back of balancer there are some holes on one side, are these supposed to line up with anything?

this is my old one, the holes are at the bottom of the picture, does anyone have any idea what they are for? Do they get lined up with one side of the crankshaft or something?

I believe what you are referring to are balance holes where they drilled the balancer to balance it... :?:

Wwdiesel is correct, they took some metal out to ballance it, same principle as adding weights when you do wheel ballance.

Hey all, with the harmonic balancer off, can I run and idle my car and then go through the park to drive and back with no issues? I know I can't run it for long as it will drain the battery but will this cause any issue internally?

That would be fine - plenty of power in the battery to do that.

I would not rev the engine up, this part balances the crankshaft and rotating mass!

Have you checked the AC compressor and clutch etc.
Mine went about a month ago, sounded like a bag of old spanners.
