For those of you that don't wander over to the 4x4 section.

Guess I'm about ready for some hubs and would appreciate some help in deciding between the two below. Plan on replacing the complete hub and bearing assembly at this time. Probably just bearings in the future.

RockAuto lists the Timkens as a generation 2 and the SKF as a generation 3.

Timken warranty=12 months, SKF 36 months/45K miles.

What do you make of this and the price is somewhat close.

I don't know enough about hubs/bearings on a vehicle to make an educated decision so would appreciate some real world experience. Would like to pick the "better" of the two. Thanks.

Skf all way. Timken doesn't build anymore for automotive as much as before and they get 3rd party suppliers and brand them as timken. They only build industrial bearings these days... Skf is the way to go imo. Ebay has good prices.

I got Timkins from Ebay for $139 each...included ABS sensors and shipping. Installed them last week. Appeared to be a good quality hub assembly.

I just replaced both of mine today. I replaced them with http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P2VRL1S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 these. Quality seems fine but time will tell. For the price I figured it was worth a try.

not sure what the 'generation 2' 'generation 3' is about-

but I did SKF's from RockAuto - they work great -

I figured SKF's had the lowest probability of being 'made in China' (they were made in Canada)

all of the major manufacturers have Chinese companies now
