Just ran across this. Wonder about the quality.

I am obviously not associated with the site or even pushing it. I just saw it and thought I would post for others to see and comment.

Looks like they all come from China.

$300-500 seems scarily cheap compared to the $1200ish I usually see. Don't genuine Garrett turbos have "GARRETT" stamped into the housing? I have not looked closely at my CRD to see.

Not stamped into the housing... Raised text, so molded in when the snail was cast.

Genuine Garrett turbos are in the ~$1200 range. Anything significantly more or less, and you are RISKING THE ENTIRE ENGINE when it fails.

When the turbo fails, the oil is usually pumped into the exhaust at great speed, and you have about 20 SECONDS to identify the failure, shift to neutral, and shut the key off.

You do NOT have time to get to the side of the road and stop before shutting the engine off, without also doing severe damage to the bottom end of the engine.
