Traveling through bend oregan area heading to bishop California then back to Montana. I am having trans shudder and i am wondering how worrisome is this? Does anyone know a mechanic somewhere on my route where I can upgrade my tc? Will check back later.

What are your exact symptoms and what if anything are you towing? By this I mean:
1. shudder all the time or just some of the time
2. if some of the time then under what conditions - level, uphill, extra throttle
3. what happens when you hit the OD button on gear shift - rpms will go up but does shudder instantly stop.

If it's not a constant thing you can drive quite a while just being gentle. I drove for like 2 months, including Savannah to Tallahassee, with zero problems just by being gentle after installing the GDE Stage II turbo which produces MASSIVE shudder under the first full throttle power run in like 100'. Had slight shudder twice, stopped immediately when OD buttom pressed, between Tallahassee and Kearney, NE in stoutdog's fully loaded 06 with fully loaded U-Haul 5 X 8 trailer in tow but no further problems on grades when we "anticipated" the grade, while in cruise, by adding go pedal to get rpms and speed up before going upgrade.

You could also add either, not both, 1 qt of ATF+4 or Lucas Transmission Fix to see if that helps. The tranny dipstick is not known for being all that accurate and the systems does not "like" being low in fluid.

A repair can be handled by any competent transmission shop, this is not a CRD "thing" as the 545RFE transmission is very common. The issue is likely getting parts as I would not do a repair without installing at least the "Euro" TC, there has been some discussion of a Hemi TC being acceptable, and a new front transmission pump. How available those might be on the fly so to speak I don't know. IdParts could overnight, at a price, the TC but I don't see that they have the pump (PN68009879AB + a new gasket that might or might not be included with the pump)
