HI.
If changing from 7V to 5V glow plugs in a 2005 Liberty, do you need a computer reflash as well as the 5V glow plug module? Not contemplating a change since 7V are available, just want the right information.

Yes, you need a reflash.

if you have GDE they can also program for 5v

Thanks ATXKJ.
Have bought 7 Volt Etecno glow plugs. Feel I don't need glow plugs for starting where I live so if they are not as hot as the ceramics, it will not make any difference. Was even thinking of eliminating them to see how easy it will start, but would strike trouble if I went far south to the cold country.

What year is your CRD?
If it is has the Glow plug controller then you will pick up a CEL if you disconnect the glow plugs

My 2002 Export 2.5 CRD does not have a glow plug controller...just 11 volt glow plugs switched on by two fat relays.

I can disconnect my glow plugs easily and it will not post a CEL....starts OK although a bit rough at first....I also live in a warm climate although probably nothing like Northern Australia!

Hi Billwill.
Yes does have a controller, 2005 model. Was going to put a dummy load externally to satisfy the ECU.
