Hey guys. So I bought an oil pressure gauge and a temp guage. I thought I'd look around under the hood first before breaking anything so I opened the hood and peaked around. For the oil pressure guage (mechanical) I need to get it hooked up to an oil gallery right ? If so where would be best ? For the temp guage (mechanical) I am clueless as to where to place the probe, could I unplug the stock one and place the probe in there ? If so where is the stock one?

I know it's pointless to have a temp guage as there is one stock but I'd like to do it anyways

oh and I have a 2006 jeep liberty CRD

Thanks in advance !

A coolant temp gauge can be installed by removing the OEM one on the back of the tstat housing; installing a "T"; and reinstalling the OEM sensor plus yours. IIRC the OEM one sends critical information to somewhere in the Jeep computer system so you don't want to remove it.

FYI the temp gauge you have is an actual gauge but it lacks degree markings. The following image shows what degree various needle positions indicate.

If I were you, I'd rather install an oil temp gauge (that stock Crd doesn't have) versus double the functionality of the existing coolant temperature. With both pressure and temp for oil, you have a very good indicator and relation between pressure and temperature, also you know when it's safe to step on the pedal harder. Fyi, normal driving on straight roads, oil temp is between 160-180. You may go to 200+ when towing or going long incline roads. Installing at least an egt would let you know exactly when to take it easy and when it's safe to turn off engine after turbo cool down.
