Do you think it is related the to spring clamps used? or the hoses getting older?

Looks like just spring clamps.
Although the leak on the viscous heater was a weird one. Replaced the spring clamp with a traditional screw type. No matter how tight I got that clamp it would not stop leaking.
I just bypassed the viscous heater since I never use it anyway. So it does not leak anymore.

No NEW leaks this time.
Just the same leaks i fixed before. The three smaller hoses that attach to the thermostat housing.
I tightened the clamps, AGAIN.
Hopefully that will be the end of my coolant losses.

For what it's worth I've found that if you put the clamps either a) on the "barb" of the fitting the hose fits on or b) well past that "barb" you will have leak problems. Ideally put the clamp just past the "bard".

Leaks will keep popping up if your head gasket leak is growing.

People have found that the excessive pressure builds up to a point where the spring clamps can't hold. Nothing wrong with the spring clamps.

It's all due to excessive cooling system pressure usually caused by a head gasket leak.

The next worst thing that happens is that the oil cooler and or the EGR valve blows out without a sign of a leak around those units, except at the spring clamps.

The pressure builds up while driving and if the system has an undetectable leak that releases the system pressure before you ever have a chance to see it explode out of the coolant bottle you may misdiagnose the problem.

I have first hand experience on this and have 3 tee-shirts to prove it.

The mechanic said that the oil cooler may have blown out during the first HG leak and may have been the cause for the subsequent HG leaks...... I don't understand what he meant by that and it's unclear to me how those units work.

The mechanic also said that the oil cooler should be part of the replacement parts kit of a HG repair on these vehicles.

While I have not completely ruled out the possibility of a head gasket leak, all the tests I have conducted indicate the cooling system is not being over pressurized.
The highest pressure I have observed is 12 psi, with engine running, with engine temp at about 200 F.
Since the cap is a 16 psi cap I would expect everything to hold tight up to 16 psi.
