Advice needed code p1261 and p0671

Guys I'm after some advice I have code p1261 and p0671 come up on my reader I read it is power train and no 1 glow plug my question is can I mix them I have 7vt ceramic if I get the steel ones that every one speaks of will they work or could it just be the glow plug module cause the car is running fine not hard to start or blowing any smoke wouldn't know if anything was wrong if it wasn't for the cel on the dash any advice would be much appreciated I'm in Australia and not much information available on this side of the world

If you're an Aussie then I don't think you have cold weather there, right? In this case, the steel 7v plugs are a good choice, we don't really like them because we can't start our jeeps if it goes below 5-ish degrees. I'd change all of them as you may replace one, then few weeks later another, a bit later another and so on.

The glow plug module should be fine and it does not need to be replaced if you change the glow plugs to some other for the same 7v. You can buy a relay and keep it in your glove box just in case.

Your right we don't get nothing like you guys get over there just having a really hard time finding them over here was looking on the idparts web site over there they seem to be out of stock trying to avoid going to the dealership over here normally triple the price would you know where else I could try that would carry them

Quick update just checked dealership here wait for it $311.60 each that's how bad we have it on this side of the world

Thank you very much just ordered them $179 Australian delivered a lot better than $1244 for 4 once again I really appreciate it do you think I need to change the module or asd relay or should they be ok

That's why those mofos are called stealers... You should go tell them they can get them cheaper from you next time they have a client, lol.

I think you should just replace the glow plugs as this should work fine. If you're really concerned, have the asd relay and gp module ordered and keep them on the shelf as spare parts. You'll know when they go bad and it's really easy to replace them on the side of the road.

Oh, asd relay doesn't have anything to do with gp, it's the auto-shutdown relay. When that goes bad jeep won't start. But still a good idea to have a spare one.

Sorry been really busy at work mate do you think I could get away with just tightening them up or do I really need to do 110 lbs I don't have a wrench or should I buy one

Just tighten them up. That's 110 INCH lbs which is just good and snug.

120" lbs = 10ft lbs into the aluminum head - DO NOT use a 100ftlb torque wrench

Guys was talking to a few mechanics and they all saying I need to change the module to fit the metal glow plugs the original one fitted is for the ceramic glow plugs does this sound right

No. sounds like a lot of bull. Get on to ausjeepoffroad. Am waiting for my 7V metal plugs to arrive. Will know for sure about the module then.

The original OEM glow plugs were 7v ceramic tip with a 7v compatible module and the ECM was programmed to deliver 7v to the GPs. The 7v Etecno1/"Italian" metal GP replacements simply drop right in not module or ECM change needed. If you go with the OEM 5v metal replacements the ECM must be reprogrammed, runs ca. $100 at a dealer, and apparently the module needs replacing, comes with the 5v GP "kit". Whether or not that module is actually different from the 7v module has been the topic of some discussion but I do not recall if any conclusion was reached.

I'll get on to the mech and have a word with him he wanted to charge me $230 + for the module he says I need or they won't work papaindigo how long have you been running the metal glow plugs gx3123 and have you had any problems with them

No one that I know of has had any problems with the Etecon1 7v plugs (http://idparts.com/catalog/product_info ... ts_id=3816) just dropped in and that includes mixing them with 7v ceramics. I've had mine since Dec 2013 with zero issues but then N FL is not that cold and I don't drive that much, only 3,000 miles since the install. On the other hand my son stoutdog has been running the same plugs, no module changes for either of us, in Kearney, NE since the first of Sept and has experienced some sub-zero weather with highs in the single +digits. He mostly keeps it plugged in but cannot do so at work and has not mentioned any starting problems although he does use the appropriate winter PowerService fuel treatment.

"Worst" I've heard is somewhat rougher starting in really cold weather without a plug in when compared to the OEM ceramic 7vs but folks say the OEM 5v metal ones have the same "issue"

I live in Australia so we don't see cold weather here at all if that is the only issue shouldn't be a problem at all now to convince the mechanics over here there is no need for the module to be changed thanks once again
