Hello:
I've seen this thread, and I have one question:

My car is a 2.8 CRD year 2006.
I changed one year ago the FCV ( # 05142799AA).
Two months ago, I had to change the ECU. The old ECU had version number 56044773AF, and the new ECU has version number 05187221AB. The new ECU corresponds to a KJ year 2007. I think that this new ECU includes the reflash 56044776BB - change to FCV to reduce potential of failures

(see http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=47169)

Since I changed the ECU, I can heard a little gas explosion when I switch the engine off; I've seen the FCV and now it doesn't close on swithing the engine off. I've dismount it and the plastic gear which usually brokes, it's OK.
I don't know if this new "behaviour" of the FCV is because of the new ECU, that avoids closing the FCV swithing the engine off and, in this way, the FCV doesn´t broke. Or is the FCV broken again??

Thanks in advance.

Daniel

After the engine is shut down the FCV opens back up. Several have heard the hum it makes doing so and get worried :jester:

Yes, but is that the behaviour of the FCV with the new ECU version?
Which is the change made to the FCV with ECU version 56044776BB?
Does the ECU version 05187221AB include the changes that are also included in 56044776BB??

Take your vehicle back to the dealer and have them replace the ECU with the correct model at their expense. The FCV must close when the engine is shut down to protect the engine from a runaway condition.

BTW, I notice you are in Spain. We lived in Aravaca for two years.

Oh! I live in Boadilla del Monte, near Pozuelo de Alarcon, near Aravaca.

Well, I'm fairly sure that the new behaviour of the FCV is because of the reflash of the ECU.
I'd like to know if somebody with this ECU version ( 05187221AB ) has the same bahaviour in his FCV...

Thanks.

We lived right next to Avenida de la Osa Mayor and Autovía de Extremadura. Looking at Google Maps, it's all changed. At that time in the '70s, there was a night club next to us which would have its first show around 11 PM and continue until 4 "de la madrugada". Our landlord had a steam locomotive in his backyard, but only a few meters of track for it. Every so often my wife would see Guardia Civil in our backyard with submachine guns looking for ETA and others who wanted to blow up the Prince on his way to school.

Have you noticed a change in the vehicle's behavior since the computer change? Are the part numbers listed read from an interrogating OBD scan tool and not off the ECM sticker?

For 2007, the engine EGR system was changed to a hot side valve (vacuum actuated) and the glow plugs seem to have changed to metallic as well. During normal conditions the EGR rate drives the % closure on the FCV. The system might be confused due to ECM looking for a slow vacuum modulator and your engine still has the electric EGR actuated valve on driver's engine side.

You should request the following ECM part number flash 56044773BA.

Hope it works out.

Well, I´ve checked with my ELM 327 scan tool and I've found the following:
CALID: 05187221AB (the same number is on the sticker of the new ECU).
CVN: 0DEBAED1

The only change I've noticed is a little like a "gas explosion" switching the engine off, and the FCV that now doesn't close on switching the engine off. I´ve no CEL light. I don't Know if that "gas explosion" is because of the again broken FCV...

Do you know which is the change made by the reflash 56044773BA regarding to "change to FCV to reduce potential of failures "?
Thanks in advance.

Daniel
