So even though this is my first post I've been lurking here a couple of years ever since I bought an 05 CRD. I decided last year to change the timing belt since it had 135K and I didn't know the history. I made my own tools including a fan nut "wrench" and a cam gear holder as well as the timing pins for the cams. I hung on to them thinking I might need them again someday. Couple of weeks ago I decided to change my glowplugs since 2 of them were bad. The first one I pulled had a small piece broken off and the second one turned but wouldn't come out. I was pretty happy to get to pull the head. Got it all repaired and it runs great again and I have decided I am never doing that job again so my home made tool are up for grabs. I'm in north central Indiana if anyone in the area is interested. First come first served. E-mail for a picture. Tim |

Mind taking some pictures of your gear holder? I used the $30 eBay timing tools and a Lisle DOHC tool for my job. The pins and tension adjuster were fine but the Lisle gear holder was difficult to use. |

Sorry for the late response I was on a business trip to Mexico last week. The timing tools have been spoken for and shipped off to California. The gear tool I made is just like the one shown in this timing belt write up http://www.beesvillebeefarm.com/jeep.html. Worked great for me. Thanks Tim |
