Hey guys, My never ending project truck is a 1985 CJ10A that has been converted into a pickup. I have never weighed it, but the original weight was 6060lbs from the factory. After removing a 1100lb weight from the back, the factory bed, and Dana 70 (replaced with 2' frame stretch, Dana 60, and Chevy step bed) I would imagine the weight is somewhere around 4800lbs. The truck is currently parked at my dad's shop awaiting new fuel lines, and at the point that it is done I need to transport it 60 miles to my house. Tl;Dr version: Do you think my stock CRD (OEM torque converter) can safely flat tow this nearly 3-ton pig back to my digs? http://i.imgur.com/g01HAugh.jpg |

definitely, I towed another CRD over 1,000 miles, over Donner Pass, and many other long, tall mountains to Idaho. With the other CRD I pulled 7500 pounds on the same trip. The brakes weren't adequate, and I was limited to about 55 mph, but it was doable. The crd with the GDE tune shuddered but survived. The stock crd with no tune still didn't shudder at all, and the CRD it was hauling had a cab that was packed with a few hundred extra pounds. |

If you have good trailer brakes it will not be an issue, just keep the tongue weight reasonable. Pulling it won't be a problem. |

I have a towing bar on the "Heep", meaning my tongue weight will be negligible. |

The new pickup bed, frame stretch, and D60(no lighter then a D70) your most likely back up to the original weight. Tow at own risk since it is above the rated load. |
