Just wondering if anyone has any experience with one. Do they work like advertised? I am thinking it would help make a little more power for towing. |

Dieselsite is working on revising their current design. Their assembled center cartridges may work, but the wheel by itself has a minor fitment issue and I am helping them resolve it |

I still don't understand how this can create more of anything, when the variable geometry is controlled by the computer and boost pressure is directly related to nothing more than shaft speed. If the computer wants more boost, it closes the vanes and increases the shaft speed which stuffs more air into the intake. The reverse if it wants less boost. What good is a change to the wheel? It won't make it spool any faster, and that is really what we want to happen. |

It does have a deeper inducer and the exducer has a more aggressive profile. I would expect it to flow more volume at the same speed as the stock compressor wheel achieving boost targets quicker and with lower EGT's but I am no expert. This would be a good question for dieselsite! ![]() geordi wrote: I still don't understand how this can create more of anything, when the variable geometry is controlled by the computer and boost pressure is directly related to nothing more than shaft speed. Any idea when a wheel will be ready. In the picture, is that both CRD wheels? The Wicked Wheel looks like it would allow a lot more air volume inside the compressor. Lower EGT's and faster spool up is what I am looking for. I think the lighter weight and if it is a more efficient blade design maybe the ticket for if. |

Spool up is more of a function of the turbine wheel, the less work it has to do, the faster it will spin. A compressor wheel that is larger, more aggressive, and moves more air, will require more work from the turbine. So spool should be expected to be slower. Look up the spool time of a Garrett gt2560 turbo, vs a gt2554. Exact same turbine and housing, different compressors, different spool up times. the bigger wheel will indeed move more air at the same rpms, or in another way will move the same amount of air as the factory turbo at a lower rpm, therefore being more efficient. all your going to gain is cooler boost. This engine is very flow restrictive and will not take more flow without upping the pressure. I think this wheel will give a slight bump up to 18-20lbs and after that I don't think there will be much difference. Georgi, I believe vnt turbos operate in "stages" and not in real time with the boost. When boost hits a certain goal, the vanes move to the next stage and so on. So really the turbo is free to do what it wants untill it hits that goal. There's no time limit on when it gets there. |

Wouldnt the turbine be able to operate in a more "open" position with the billet wheel allowing less restrictive exhaust flow? I do know that the people with 7.3 PSD say they are great. In fact some of of the reviews I saw say they feel like they lose a little top end but the rest of the power band is better. |

7.3 is NOT a VVT. (I know, I have one.) DOC |

Any updates on this? |

I would think this would have to help. I mean the lighter weight and the more efficient design should make it spool faster and make more boost with less heat but who knows. Without a retune you probably wouldnt notice much of a performance gain anyways since the computer is still trying to target a certain boost level. |
