Torque limit of the "euro" tc?

Post subject:  Torque limit of the "euro" tc?

Anyone know what the torque ft/lb limit of the euro tc is? I seem to remember 400 ft/lbs, but not sure. I can make mine shudder at full lockup on flat ground. it's relatively easy to stay out of it, but it'll give me an indication what my motor is putting out. Planning on a trans rebuild with all the upgrades, not sure if I want to go Suncoast or the hemi tc.

Stock Mopar OEM TC is rated for 300 ft. lbs. max (406 Nm)
Mopar Euro TC is rated for 400 ft. lbs. max (~ 542 Nm)
Suncoast CRD-1ES TC is rated for 600 ft. lbs. max (813 Nm)

I am still waiting to see the Hemi TC ratings, if anyone has them, please post...I have not been able to find them. :banghead:

I feel certain the Mopar OEM Hemi TC ratings are somewhere above the Euro and below the Suncoast.
Suncoast is certainly the best there is and the most expensive. The Hemi TC may be a very good cost efficient option over all of them?

gmctd stated in a previous post on TC's:
the oem stock Hemi TC is designed to survive more power than the KJ is capable of producing in upgraded ECM trim - the stock Hemi TCC will survive anything you can do to it , street or\and off-road.

Ok that is what I thought. Yes the hemi tc seems to be a good compromise between holding power and price.

The next issue is fixing the valve body of the trans, there's an older post on here about valve bores wearing out of round or something to that effect, causing some issues. It'll be interesting to see what a years worth of 400+ft/lbs has done to it.

Good source for info\specs on the Hemi TCC would be on one or more of the DODGE RAM 1500 5.7L Hemi forums

OEM-stock Hemi engine specs:
Power (SAE net) 395 hp (291 kW) @ 5,600 rpm
Torque (SAE net) 407 lb.-ft. (548 N•m) @ 3,950 rpm
Max. Engine Speed 5,800 rpm

Hemi TC\C is designed to withstand greater than stock engine output, so is likely rated ~500 lb.-ft.

Even if only rated to 407 lb.-ft., that's still greater than the 300 lb.-ft. rating of the oem factory-installed KJ version

And 7 ft.-lb. more than the EURO version

Ours put out 390 lbs ft on a Dynojet a few years ago and have had no shudder with JUST euro TC (no pump or Transgo).

What you are referring to, is the front pump assembly! If you are going to pull a 545rfe transmission to replace a TC on any Jeep that has high mileage or the OEM front pump, it should be replaced with a new assembly. There are bores and pistons within the front pump assembly housing that wear out over time...not to mention you get a new TC oil seal in the process.... :wink:
