My Liberty broke down a couple blocks from my house and I'm going to pull it home using my buddies truck. A couple questions, where should I tie a rope or chain to the Liberty? When I hopped under there yesterday I didn't see any good options but maybe I'm blind. Also, if I'm pulling it when it's on all four wheels can I just throw the transmission in neutral and leave the transfer case in 2 wheel drive?

I'm assuming you don't have front tow hooks? Not many good places in front, could put a tow hook or D-ring in the receiver hitch and pull it backwards.

For a short distance putting the transmission in neutral will work, but you can also put the transfer case in neutral (preferred for towing long distances), just keep in mind when the transfer case is in Neutral the transmission is no longer engaged and "Park" no longer works, will need to use the parking brake.

Most of KJs have one or two tow hooks/eyes installed, but not all of them. They are located in lower opening(s) of the front bumper. If towing is just couple of blocks, it can be done tranny in N, but recommended is to always disconnect wheels from transmission by putting the transfer case in N. Hope you get your KJ back to the (off)road soon.

Silly question, how do you put the T case in neutral? I realize the lever is labeled but I don't want to accidentally slip it into the wrong gearing. The battery is dead from working on it so the lights on the dash don't work. If I charge up the battery will there be a light that tells me that it's in neutral? I know there's a part-time and full-time light but is there a neutral light? I just bought this crd and I've never owned a 4 by 4 Liberty before so I have no idea how the actuator works and I don't want to mess up anything

Third "click" is N. when u start lifting the lever, first comes part time, then full time and then neutral. It's easy to recognize, as from N to low u have to move the lever sideways before it goes to low.

The question is though what happened to the Jeep for needing the tow?
