Post subject:  Suspension Pivot Bushing Replacement

Good day to all.

I am in need of replacing the pivot bushing on both sides of my front suspension. I have looked at the current setup under the jeep and it looks basic as a removal of a bolt and swapping out the bushing. However, repairs are never that easy. Just looking for some forsight and/or advice as to what may make this go as smooth as possible. Hopefully the whole coil over setup does not have to be removed to pop out the old P bushings.

Thanks.

Peace,

Thomas

Do you refer to the Clevis bushing (the one bushing that is securing the lower arm control to the shock and spring assembly through the "fork"/clevis)? If so, that's a standard replacing, it requires a press to remove it and put a new one back. As long as you won't remove the lower arm control you won't need alignments. Just fyi, if it's only a bit deformed on the lower part but doesn't have play or it's not cracked, you don't need to replace it as the new one will also look like that after few miles.

As about removing the spring assembly, I don't know if you have enough space to put a press/extractor in there without removing either the spring assembly or the lower arm.
