Hi Guy's
My 2005 kj CRD will not run. It died on my on my wife on her way home from work. The first day she drove my Jeep!!(probably the last) Any way, it will turn over fine but It it seems like there is a lack of fuel. If it sits for a while it will have a very short period it will try and start and have a rough idle for a moment.

Background info: I just fully rebuilt the engine a couple months ago and have very
little time on her. I have the GDE tune and a few other mods including a Dodge lift pump that is showing me 8 psi at the filter intake. I put a new fuel filter in and that did not help. I bypassed the filter housing to try and eliminate it. When I by passed it I noticed that the pressure drained off quicker after cranking... not sure if it is relevant. I cracked loose the injector line on #3 and tried to bleed air out if there was any.
Prior to all this my return line on the injectors were continually popping off and leaking. I'm not sure if that is indicative of anything?
the only fault code I'm throwing is a p0300 engine misfire.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm starting to bang my head on the wall, and having thoughts of a Cummins upgrade...

Never bypass the filter.

While cranking, are you getting a crank position and cam position signal?

May be your crank position sensor; they are notorious for crapping out and not tripping a code....
Autozone has them....
Keep us posted!

Ok thx guys. I need to update my diagnostic app so I can see more then just fault codes. I will do that and see if I can see the position signal. Can you see fuel pressure in diagnostics?

Need to get fuel rail pressure from OBD II diagnostics, most likely low pressure. Once confirmed, find out what is causing low fuel rail pressure. Reasoning here is that engine seems to want to start. If it was a crankshaft position sensor, it would not try to start at all, because without a crank position signal, there can be no injector opening timing, thus no firing at all, and you have a misfire DTC.

There is not enuff return pressure to pop the rubber return tubing off the injectors - sounds like you have a leaky injector or several
