Today, I reluctantly let my 05 Liberty CRD go. I traded it on a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited with 28,000 miles.

With 174,000 trouble free miles on the CRD, I feel like I really got lucky with mine.
Still had the original ceramic glow plugs, original stock exhaust, never had to replace any of the chassis components (except brakes).
I have been driving Jeeps since 1979, and this has been on of the best that I have owned.
I'm going miss that purrrr from under the hood.

That said, My happy eight years of CRD ownership might have been completely different without Keith's GDE Eco Tune, and the support of this webpage.
Thank you all.

As a good by, I'm posting this "off topic" photo of my just finished (three year) restoration of
a 1967 Kaiser Jeep M715

Cool little rig. What does it have for a power plant?

Thanks guys :)

My daughter still has hers, CRD#2, but after the two last winters, she is wanting to trade by this fall.
Ever since I have installed the Chrysler/Jeep 5 volt steel glow plugs, it is hard to start below 20 degrees unless it is plugged in. And that isn't practical where she works, which has resulted in her getting stranded a few times.
One very cold day, they pushed it into a heated Walmart Auto Center located beside her employer, and after setting inside awhile, it started fine.
After that, during breaks at work, she would go out in the bitter cold, and run the thing around the parking lot to warm it up.
So, yeh, she is done with it.

Yes, it has a Kaiser Jeep OHC 230 Tornado in military dress.
Since you have asked, here are a few more "off topic" photos.

I have created a monster. My 7 year old daughter says she is gonna drive ours when she turns 16. I don't have the heart to tell her that it prolly won't last that long. Haha

Thanks Bob,
Best of luck to you also.
I have a buyer for my Miller 9599 tool set as soon as our other CRD is gone.
So, I wouldn't be able to help you on another timing belt change anyhow.

That looks like a really nice restoration Did you end up painting it yourself?. Seeing this thing sitting outside before all of this and now seeing it is a pretty crazy change.

Thanks Kevin,
Yes I did everything myself, except for the machine work on the engine.
The military semi-gloss paint is pretty forgiving.
I sandblasted every square inch, except for the drive train and axle housings. I used 30- 100# bags of Black Beauty sandblasting abrasive. Talk about a mess in the yard and driveway. I had to scoop up the top 1" of sod and gravel driveway just to get rid of it.

I have used that in the past, unfortunately I was a moron when I used it and had shorts on. it took weeks for all the little pieces of abrasive to come out of the skin on my legs. That stuff gets everywhere.
