I ve got a hose hanging from crd2. It runs down the passenger side of the transmission. Visible from underneath. it runs up behind the transmission and disappears. Using crd1 as a reference, It does the same forward on the transmission. Can t see either end without removing a bunch of stuff. It s not a standard vacuum hose because it is thicker and has a white core. The crd runs fine although it seems less responsive on the upper range and my computer mpg has dropped 3-4 mpg. I do 75 to 80 with no apparent issues other than the response. It might have come loose when I changed the head gasket or removed the EGR stuff. Any thoughts?

Tks
Sounds reasonable. Let me see if I can identify a replacement part.

I had the same thing. The white thing at the end is what's left of the check valve. The hose is the transfer case breather tube. Try tracing it back to see where it goes. Should not effect any thing having to do with the operation of your CRD. I got a new hose assembly and spliced it to the old and ran it up and attached it near the fuel filter. Now I plan on putting a tee in and running the transmission vent to it too. The transmission vent is on top of the transmission drivers side and is very short you can feel the check valve. In fact I accidently pulled the check valve off and had to put it back in without being able to see the hose.
