Giordi has generously offered his services and I may just fly him out here to do an overhaul on my engine, but it would be wonderful to find a competent mechanic that can do the work here in Northern California. I'm in the Bay Area, just about an hour north of San Francisco. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of overhaul does it need?

Sounds like crap right now, so we've come to the conclusion that it's probably a few broken rockers.

Repair List;
-replace rockers
-full timing belt change
-ARP Head Studs
-intake elbow upgrade

At this point I really want someone who knows what the hell they're doing, so flying Giordi out will most likely be the best option.

Just poking my head in here - Brian is getting all his ducks in a row for the trip, and it looks like there may be a gentleman in Oregon that is going to be part of the fun...

If anyone else in the area needs something, now is the time!

I think flying Geordi and getting a hotel would definitely be way cheaper than what a dealer will charge for such a job. Assuming the dealer is competent, which is a very big question... I think you can fly him first class and still be way under the dealer cost, lol.

Yup! Jim is definitely the way to go. I've never found a mechanic in NorCal that is competent in these engines, and every time I call a dealership or shop they say "Jeep made a diesel?" I'm tired of messing around with it, and it sounds like Jim knows what he's doing. Thanks all!
