I have a 2011 KK Liberty with 24,000 miles that is having one electronic problem after the next. Symptoms: 1. While driving, the ESC OFF light comes on w/o being activated. When this happens, the switch becomes inoperative. 2. Sometimes when #1 happens, the 4WD light and 4LOW light come on as well. When that happens, the electronic transfer case switch doesn't work...won't go into 4WD high or low. Because of the year, it is out of warranty, so I had to pay for the first fix suggested by dealership, the Transfer Case Actuator Motor. That worked for about 1000 miles, then it started to happen again, with a new symptom 3. Lug 5 (left Brake Light) of my 7 pin factory trailer connection became hot (12v read whether signal was on or not and while vehicle was shut off) the fix for that was a new TIPM, again out of pocket no warranty. Now, 500 miles later it is doing symptom 1 & 2 again however there are no codes registering for the technicians to follow up on. So I was sent home without a remedy. Question #1 Anyone else having these issues? Question #2, the real one...Can I swap the MP1522 transfer case for something like a NP241? The issue is not the lights on the dash, but the inability to electronically switch my T-Case. I would like to do away with the electronic switching altogether and shift it manually. I should also say that I have spent tons of dough on suspension, custom winch bumper, custom snorkel etc. So, I would rather fix than replace, plus it's paid for. Thanks for all your input in advance. |

I too have an 11 KK but thankfully have not experienced your issues. I have 35K on mine and like yours, my warantee expired due to time, not milage. I have had some transmission issues which began under warantee and continued one year beyond the expiration. When the dealer wouldn't do the necessary repairs, I wrote a letter to the Chrysler Zone Service Manager and copied the General Manager of the dealership. I had a phone call from the dealership service manager two days later offering to fix my transmission and a few other issues I had. May work, may not but it's worth a try since it is a re-occuring issue. |

Maybe this will help? http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f292/esc-off-then-serv-4wd-4-low-4wd-lights-whiles-driving-1342050/ I dont have any experience with the transfer case in you liberty, but I have seen on other electronic transfer cases that when there is a problem engaging 4wd its usually because of some sensor on the transfer case. In my experience, its usually due to not using 4wd. Lack of use causes the sensor to get gunked up. But once you start actually using the 4wd the problem eventually corrects itself. So, somewhere on your t-case is a sensor. Remove it, clean it, or replace it and that will hopefully fix the problem. You may want to try asking this question over on the KK forum. |

I meant this thread for the KK forum, it got here by mistake. I also posted it on the KK forum once realized. Thanks. I 4 wheel every weekend, so I don't think it is under utilization, but I will check the sensors. Thanks for the heads up!! |
