I know of no upgrade for the front DS. I removed mine and replaced one of the joints. Pretty easy to do. |

I replaced the transfer case end CV joint and boot on the front drive shaft last year. Bought the replacements from Detroit Axle. Less than $100 bucks for all parts.... Works like new.... |

I looked at the link. Are they claiming anything beyond just replacing the rear CV on the prop shaft with u-joints? Stronger, better support for driveshaft angles due to a lift, etc? Granted, the rear CV is prone to failure due to the boot getting damaged and it collecting debris. But you can replace the rear CV 3 times for $350 and have $$ to spare. It's not a tough repair. I'm also not sure I like this "At the differential end of the drive shaft the OE CV is disassembled, cleaned, inspected and reassembled with new grease." If you're going to go to that length, just replace it. I did both on mine for $180. And then cleaned and painted the prop shaft. I don't understand the 'core charge' either. They plainly state they don't start working on it until they receive your prop shaft. What are they expecting you to ship back. Am I missing something? |
