After the CRD sits for a few hours, the engine misses at start-up for 3 to 4 seconds. Any ideas?

Any smoke out the exhaust?

Could be a glow plug that's starting to go out. Once it warms up a bit the miss should go away. You'd probably see black smoke coming out the tailpipe too.

No, there is really no smoke at start-up...

thermorex and myself have this also. His affects the idle speed though, and mine doesn't. Mine happens below about 60 degrees. Maybe a fickle injector. I'm trying to find out how much it costs to send off the injectors for reconditioning. Mine misses for more like 15 seconds I think.
I like the glow plug suggestion also.

I spent about $120 getting mine cleaned and tested. They even all came back with new copper washers. No O-rings though.

That doesn't sound bad. Where you get them serviced?

I just shopped around locally for an authorized Bosch service center. I wound up with these guys:

droppped them off, and they called the next day and said they were done.

cool, thanks! I wouldn't pull them just for these symptoms, since they rarely fail, but I'm pulling them anyhow for ARP's and rockers, so might as well get them checked.
