Is removing the ground cable with the switch on the proper procedure? I have searched both CRD forums and come up a little short. Thanks, Tom |

Not that I am aware of. Codes are stored until 1) the fault goes away and stays away for like 5 drive cycles in which case the code will clear on it's own or if you undo what you have done (ex. plug MAF or viscous heater relay back in) or 2) someone with a proper tool clears the code. What's the code? |

First off, how well does it drive? Because if all those codes were actual current faults, your engine would be hard to start, low on power, and blowing black smoke out the exhaust. My guess is that these are all stored codes from a recent timing belt service. At the very least you should check all your sensors and make sure they are all properly plugged in. If everything is fine, they will eventually clear themselves out. But just in case... 0073 Ambient Temp Sensor. I am pretty sure this is the sensor on the side of the air filter box lid. 1263 Glow plug 2, 1267 Glow plug #4. Either your glow plugs are unplugged or you need new glow plugs. 0107 MAP sensor. Clean or replace your MAP sensor 0113 Intake Air temperature sensor. This is also your MAP sensor 0101 mass airflow sensor. Clean or replace it 0299 Turbo Under boost. Given all the above, this is no surprise |

Best solution, go to AutoZone or one of the other local parts stores in your area and buy yourself a cheap code reader like an Innova that will allow you to reset the codes and then read them if any return.... A handy tool indeed to have on hand if you own a Jeep CRD...

Flash and WW, Thanks for the replies. The car is running the best it ever has... no smoke and yes to the TB change. All connections are sound. The kid that I bought is from had run car with the ambient air sensor out for years and this sensor may be bad. I re-installed it thinking it would help. The MAP sensor may be bad. I cleaned it up and re-installed it after the TB/head stud re-work. The OReilly salesman said "he couldn't reset" the CEL. Like an idiot it didn't occur to me that I needed to ask him if I could re-set the CEL with his OBD reader

If you have an android phone, go on eBay and look for a cheap ELM327 bluetooth reader. Then download the (free) Torque app. I recently got several at $5 each and just dropped one in each car. They won't handle extended codes like ABS or air bags, but they'll let you read most codes and reset the CEL. I use mine from time to time when I get tired of looking at the EGR code. |

Heck, if you dont have and android phone, just get a cheap 7 inch tablet ($50) thats equipped with bluetooth. The tablet + ELM327 module + TorquePro app = a really darn good diagnostic tool for under $100. |

Thanks guys. I do have an android so it looks like I'll bet on Ebay and buy the adapter. This car was run w/o the MAF for a long time. Geordi did the TB and we re-installed all the sensors. The ambient air sensor on the air cleaner box is rather interesting. Geordi brought to my attention that this sensor is made by Mercedes Benz. Anyway, thanks guys. Tom |
