I have recently got new rockers and ARP headbolts along with weeks kit 1 &2. The following morning i noticed EGR parts fell from my Jeep. So my question is the main culprit being gone, do i still need Provent CCV kit ?

I mean after two years this is what happened last winter.

Image

It clogged badly into tar like gel and Jeep gave me DTC P0101& P0299.

Besides there has to be a better solution than spending 90 USD on this every winter.

The provent is not necessary.
It just helps keep oil out of your intake hoses and intercooler.

So I got Semco hoses, oil should not bother them. what about oil in intercooler can it mess up something.

With the EGR gone, the soot source has been eliminated. That muck looks like a lot of soot mixed with oil. I bet if you have fresh oil and no EGR, you will not see sludge buildup in your provent anymore.

Oil in the intake track has never bothered me. It is the soot from the EGR that is the enemy.

I would agree with ebbnflow with the EGR disabled and/or removed one way or another the Provent really serves little useful function particularly if you already have Samco CAC hose. Soot is your engine's enemy not a small amount of relatively clean crankcase oil. The exception is without the Provent you will need to keep a bit of an eye out for a potential crack in the underside of the air box to turbo hose just forward of the turbo; that crack is related to oil dripping there from the CCV. Just check it, can access from the bottom especially if on a lift, at each oil change; replacement runs ca. $65. Life duration on that hose is somewhat unpredictable; my son's died at ca. 35K miles but mine is fine at 53K. Oil in intercooler is no particular worry unless it's a massive quantity of oil.

I have the GDE FTE tune, all of the EGR crap removed, Samco hoses and the Provent 200. I drain approximately 3 oz. from the Provent drain hose every 3k miles. I have no plans on removing the Provent. I check the filter every oil change (6k miles) for fouling. I have not found any in 20k miles. You can purchase the replacement filter at diesel-filters.com for $26.

Its a simple question one must have to ask yourself; do I want the oil and residue in my intake hose, turbo, boost hoses, intercooler (CAC), and intake, or do I want to collect /filter it in a Provent where I can drain and clean the filter every so often?
For me it was a no brainer; I chose the Provent route....
I have no EGR, EGR cooler, EGR tube or any of that JUNK!

You guys do know that's a nylon mesh screen filter, and can be cleaned any number of times with varsol, paint thinner, Diesel fuel, gasoline, kerosene, etc, ect, final wash with AUTOZONE engine cleaner.

Replacement necessary only when nylon screen becomes torn or disintegrated

Maybe somebody could post a pic of a new filter for illustration ?????????
