Any one has any experience with these ?

I would like to get some thing which can handle hot Tunes now all of these make custom orders and want to know my stall speed? i have no clue and lead time is at least a week.

Idparts has ready stock and overnight shipping, very confused.
If only i knew i would be in this situation i would have had one on the ready.

Unless you are drag racing, stay away from any torque converter that claims a higher stall speed. You will hate it on the street. If anything, you want a lower stall speed.
Most of those torque converters you listed are designed and have stall speeds for gasolene engines. Before you buy one, talk to them and explain to them that you have a small diesel engine with a peak torque of about 330 ft/lbs at about 2000 rpm. Ask what they would reccomend for that engine.

Just get the Euro and be done with it although you might want to email Keith at GDE just in case he has one available, which he does from time to time. As I recall he is running the Euro with his Stage II turbo with no problems.

While in that far you might want to upgrade to the newer front pump.

If you want the best TC that will handle anything you throw at it, get yourself a Suncoast, they make a billet TC just for our Jeep Diesels... Suncoast -- CRD-1ES TC :D

These are the known torque ratings:
Stock Mopar OEM TC is rated for 300 ft. lbs. max (406 Nm)
Mopar Euro TC is rated for 400 ft. lbs. max (~ 542 Nm)
Hemi TC is rated for? (have not seen a rating listed yet)
Suncoast CRD-1ES TC is rated for 600 ft. lbs. max (813 Nm)

As Pap advised, replace the front pump while you got the tranny out to replace the TC. Installing a Transgo kit will also help the transmission and improve shifting... :wink:

I'm certainly fond of my Suncoast TC but then a TC upgrade was mandatory when geordi and I put in the GDE Stage II turbo. Might have gone with the Euro back then but heck Suncoast is only 90 or so miles away and did the install while I waited.

Yes thanks for all the inputs. Ideally i should have done my research before hand and should have had one TC at hand .The shop that is supposedly working on it wants me to make a decision right way ,they are into big diesel rigs and market their own Brand TC they have asked for 600 bucks for Billet TC . If they do not rush me , I would like to get the Euro TC from ID parts overnight here for some extra cash. As it seems to hold up good for stage 2 turbo as that is what i am planning next.

I've got a euro and do not like it's stall speed. It still drives like a slushy slush box. I've heard the hemi TC has a lower stall and locks up just a good as the Euro.

The euro did eliminate the shutter I had at 50mph, but if I were to do it over again, I would choose something else.

A quote\unquote billet TC need be considered only if you've increased engine output power by a factor of at least two and are planning to do some very intense quarter-mile short-tripping - don't waste your money

The shop didn't do any work on the jeep and if he is not started by tomorrow i will tow it home. Take a break this week order Hemi speced low stall speed converter i found at Rock auto for 150 bucks and go from there.

It is listed as Hemi reman unit for dodge ram 1500 for 4.7 and 5.7 engines with 45RFE tranny and part number is R36LS.

Sounds like the right one. I should have looked at rock auto, I paid about $230 for my Hemi TC. Haven't installed it yet though..

The best source to get R36LS is parts geek.com they have it for 118 with free shipping and 55 bucks for core exchange. Since my jeeps was already in the shop with tranny apart I tried rock auto with overnight shipping it was about 273 but no guarantee of next day delivery so I went with autozone (yes they have it on special order 189 plus 30 for core) 229 free overnight shipping. I could not be happier they :JEEPIN: drives so smooth no hiccups and I didn't expect any as hemi engine has higher horses and torque than our little tractors. :pepper: :JEEPIN:

Now transmission handles much better ,assured and instant response to throttle no lag or hiccups what so ever. The difference is phenomenal.When i test drove it i was grinning ear to ear.

Had my Suncoast in for over 5 years, still going strong with 138K on the odometer, 153K corrected for odometer error.

Good to hear that you are enjoying great service from your TC.It has never been about the sun coast or other billet TC reliability. The question is when someone is delaying the decision to get tranny repairs based on the fact that you do not have 800. Or 600 bucks for TC available and other costs associated with the repair.This delay can cause the the tranny to go belly up and more money down the drain.
In situations like these you have two viable options get a rebuilt HDMI TC for 175 bucks or complete working HDMI tranny for 500-700 bucks.
