The roceedure to drain water is...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This proceedure is from the dealer. The electrical connector is the drain plug and a sort of funnel. The threads are cut away on part of the plug to form a passage for the water/fuel to drain into the connector "cup" and then out the small drain hole you see on the edge or the connector/plug.

When you unscrew the connector the water/fuel simply comes out of the filter through the slot in the threads, into the cup formed by the connector and then out of the drain hole in the connector/plug.

I did use the proceedure to drain the contents out of the bottom of the filter and the light hasn't come back on since.

1. Disconnect negative cable on battery.

2. Disconnect sensor wire on bottom of fuel/water separator.

3. Connect drain tubing to the fitting on the bottom of the connector/plug and put other end in a catch-can/container.

4. Open bleed fitting on top of separator housing, it is a hose barb on starboard side of the housing.

5. Un-screw the connector/plug on bottom of separatoruntil water/fuel comes out.

6. Close drain.

7. Close bleed fitting.

8. Re-connect sensor wire.

9. Prime the system.

10. Re-connect battery cable.

Thank You Bonehead. Sounds like an easy procedure. I'll fix it in the morning.

Also may want to put in some Power Service to help get rid of any remaining water. To have water in fuel is not a good thing because this can lead to alge growth in the fuel system. If you get your fuel from the same place every time, tell them so they can change their filters.

I've gone through the entire process twice, and the water light
still comes on. I just turned over 5200 miles. This fuel was
not purchased at a truck stop, but is a high volume store. All
the UPS trucks in town fill up daily. I don't know what to do now.
I hate to take it the dealer.

Sounds like possibly a bad sensor.

The hose I attached is a clear hose with an inside diameter of at least 1/4 inch. It easily attached to the drain fitting. After two drainings, i had about 1/4 quart of fuel.
