Okay so I've read tons of threads on here about the Crd towing. I'm looking at getting a travel trailer prob in the w0 to 22ft range. The liberty is stock but my upgrades before the trailer are new TC, upgraded fan GDE turbo tune. So my real.question what is the honest length I could pull I'm looking at the keystone passport it has a slope front end. The camper will mainly stay on my land in WV with occasional vacations across country. If my libby is set up right how big of a pass port could a get with the correct setup Thanks guys

Page 286 of both the 05 and 06 Owner's Manual (top shelf in glove box or download at the Owners page on the Jeep web site) lists towing specs although those specs are not quite the same; main difference is tongue weight but whether or not that matters I do not know. I suspect your main limitation is going to be trailer loaded weight rather than length. 05 manual says up to 25' long is ok.

You might want to consider adding some extra transmission cooling.

I have a 24ft ultralight Jayco that scaled at 4950lbs loaded...empty tanks. Use a weight distribution hitch and a Tekonsha P3. Tows fine even though I still need a new torque converter.

Okat thanks very good answers. I'd imagine I'd need a,good hitch setup up how wide and tall is,the jayco... I've read that its not so much the length n weight but the wind and drag resistance?

I also use the Tekonsha P3 with a Draw-tite dual cam sway control hitch. I use to use a fiction sway control, but this set up is much quieter.

Sweet setup okay. So what I'm getting at is I should deff get the tekonsha trailer brake and a weight distribution hitch... what size is the trailer and the pic and what's the loaded/ unloaded weight? Are you still running the stock converter ?

Euro torque converter. GDE Eco-tune and trans tow tune.
The trail is 4300lb empty, and I think total length is 28ft. Never checked loaded. I tow it with the tanks empty, except propane. I am guessing it is very close to 5000lb when I tow.
Depending on length you get the built in swap control is nice too. With my setup once the weight distribution part is hooked up so is sway control. Nothing to forget. [WINKING FACE]

Wow okay so you have minimal upgrades and and it's towing that 28ft 5k estimate that's not bad. Now I heard the libby in euro has a 7k tow cap and the only difference is the transminssion..... what hitch and sway set up do you run

I have the Draw-tite Dual Cam hitch. Reese now sells it also. Same parent company, just different price point in the different brands.
It is at its limit without slowing to much on long grades. I am very pleased with it.

8 feet wide and just over 10 feet tall at the A/C.

I have a weight distribution hitch but no anti-sway cams. No real issues although the anti-sway is probably nice.

I just towed it with my 2010 Volkswagen Touareg TDI this weekend. Rock solid stable and it was like it was not even behind the vehicle. Accelerate up hills without breaking a sweat.

Wish the Libby had a triptronic though. I liked being able to select and hold any gear.

The GDE "tow tune" is ESSENTIAL with trailers like this. (It allows you to use 4rth gear up to 70 MPH. OR, Keith can custom tune shift points.) However, for towing a 5K horse trailer (very tall) this is perfect. I would also upgrade to the HOT tune.
