I had an idea for a modified Short Ram on our 2.8's. My question is for the gear heads in here that are very knowledgeable with engince, diesel's. My dad and I modded his Explorer Sporttrac's intake by removing the stock box and adding the conical K&N filter from his old 5.7 liter F-150. It was tight, but fit and gave a HUGE difference. That was a gas engine though.
What if I removed the stock airbox and installed a K&N Conical Filter from say a 3.7 liter or larger. It would have a rubber boot that clamps down to make it airtight connection, it also has the plug connection for the thing on the airbox. Just an idea, but something I thoght was worth entertaining.
ANother option other than the K&N is the AEM Dryflow. I'm going to call AEM on Monday to see if they have a OEM Replacement Dryflow filter.

What do you all think??
