While investigating a chirping alternator this afternoon I noticed that I'm leaking oil around my CCV. Am I wrong in thinking that it's not that big a deal and would probably be solved by replacing the module?

Mine looked identical until I replaced it and the hose. I tried cleaning it twice, but replacing it was the solution.

Yeah, mine looked like that too, and I think it took out the rear main seal by not venting properly. I just ordered a new one also to go with the new crank seal. Too much riding on that CCV to leave them in there all that long I think. I'm planning on every 100k, unless someone tells me that they are less likely to take out the main seal when they fail :ALONE:

That's the hose leaking - petroleum-hardened, replace it - the puck can be found on eBay for ~35bucks if you wanna replace that also, but it is just a hunk of plastic, easy to clean and reinstall
