Went to start the jeep after work yesterday and nothing happened. Dash lights function normally but when the key is turned to the start position nothing.... Did all the normal checks starter relay,ASD,ignition fuse, park lockout ect. Every thing is fine. Figured it was a dead battery 6 year old Optima red top after all so I got a ride home and I'll deal with it today. Well today I check the battery and its fine, 13.1 volts check everything again no problems. Checked starter by jumping from solenoid jeep starts and runs fine so I ran a jumper wire up to the positive battery terminal and drove home. Looks like I have a short somewhere, any ideas of where to look? I have the FSM so I can narrow this down somewhat but a quick glance at the wiring schematic of the ignition circuit shows a lot of wires to check. Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks for the link. I can rule out the ignition switch actuator, replaced by stealership with new steering column. I can hear the starter relay click when the key is in the start position.I'm going to take another look at the gear shift lockout.
