I'm a relatively new CRD owner here and have found this forum SO helpful thus far. I have an 05 with 180k miles, with no major mods yet other than a straight pipe and a few of the things mentioned in the NOOB guide.

Yesterday, I was attempting to bleed the air out of my fuel lines after changing the filter and accidentally tightened the bleeder too much and cracked the top head unit. :banghead: I would SO appreciate it if anyone that has a 2nd gen fuel filter head laying around could let me know and I'd be more than willing to pay you for it.

I really am just trying to avoid purchasing the whole unit (filter, head and new wiring) for about $100 shipped. I know it doesn't seem like much BUT I just put about $1,500 into it and still haven't solved my power issues :furious: so am trying to save all that I can. Thanks!

I think I'd be taking it back and telling them the connector wasn't broken when you brought it in. They could at least order you one at their cost. After what I would assume to be a $350 bill (or more), I would hope they'd at least acknowledge the fact they broke it. Sorry for your luck on that one!

that fact was acknowledged, but in the last few days no word yet if they located a replacement at cost. I can find it for about $100 from several vendors. However I will only wait so long. this is an item I can replace on my own and I'm driving with a check engine light. the code that's set is for fuel temp sensor out of range.

The top section of the 1st gen fuel head is the same as the 2nd gen. The heater element puck is different. The primer pump on my 2nd gen fuel head recently failed with less than 25k miles on it. I removed the heater element from it and attached to the first gen filter head that I had removed with about 47k miles on it. The combination is installed on the CRD and is fully functional. If I have another problem with it, I will install the Racor 245R122 unit.
