I haven't had a chance to investigate further, but I know the lower coolant hoses took some abuse when I was changing the pax side UCA.

The LoCool message came on today (immediately causing head gasket nightmare thoughts) after parking it on the driveway for awhile I could see two puddles forming, one from AC condensation, and another mystery puddle centered under the turbo downpipe area. Further investigation showed that that there were moist areas all the way to the front of the engine bay around the passenger side radiator support and shroud areas. Any ideas of where to look now? I've replaced the thermostat and upper radiator hose in the past, but not the lower hose (which looks like a PITA to change!) and I've not touched the radiator. |

Give it a "pressure test" and the problem should be easy to find. Search for Radiator Pressure Tester Kit. You might be able to rent one locally. |

The lower Radiator hose is a PITA if you aren't already apart for a Timing Belt or something similar. That being said, the location that your leak is coming from sounds more like the hose coming out of the bottom of the reservoir or possibly the reservoir itself. I would start there. |

If you can see puddles forming then you probably have a fairly rapid leak such that you might be able to see it if you fill up the coolant tank, put cap back on, crank up in the shade, and go looking with a flashlight. Wet up by radiator unfortunately sounds like a radiator leak but dripping around the turbo down pipe could easily be a heater hose, bypass or water pump hose, or the oil cooler as they are all in that area. Remember on a running/driving engine coolant from a leak blows all over the place. Pressure test will tell you that you have a leak but may not help in locating the leak. If you do a pressure test I'd add some UV dye and get a UV light to help locate the leak. |
