Finally got a chance to work on my CRD again.

I had blown rockers back in january, been slowly getting it back together since.
Timing belt is all reinstalled but I cant get it to fire. The engine cranks fine, and all my marks align perfectly after several crank attempts. Ill add I also installed a weeks kit during the process

Priming and bleeding the filter I get smooth air free bleeds. I get fuel out of the fuel line to injector 4 when cranking.

From torquepro I get the following codes:

P0073-Ambient Air temp Sensor Circuit High Imput
P1140- H02s Transition time ratio Banck1 Sensor2
P0610- Control Module vehicle Options Error

Im stumped. I tried switching ASD relay and still nothing.

Any Ideas? I miss my CRD and I here the forest roads calling.

Take a careful look at the #4 injector wiring plug. It's identical to and very near one of the fuel rail sensors that uses an identical plug. Easy to accidentally swap especially if label fell off injector wiring. If swapped the engine will crank but not fire.

Tried the injector 4 connector switch, no love. Silly they made those connectors the same but at least one is stand alone like the other injector connectors while the other comes off the main bundle paired with the crank position sensor.

That P0610 code seems odd.
Actually, all three of those codes seem odd.

These engines do funny things when battery voltage is low and there is not enough juice to crank the engine AND power up all the electronics.
Might want to have your battery tested just in case.

Is the small connector under the MAF sensor plugged in? I think (don't quote me) that is the ambient air temp sensor, and I'm not sure the engine will run without it.

What is your cranking rail pressure? Are you getting crank rpm signal when cranking?

Today I got back into the jeep,

Tried starting with my battery charger in boost and engine start mode mode but still no start.
It didn't cause any new codes when scanned.

Real Time data shows RPMs that matches the tach but I cant figure out how to get rail pressure displayed any pressure.
I added a dial to my real time data but the needle doesn't move.

I still plan take my battery to get checked but Im still stumped

I think that the p0610 code is your primary problem.
However, I dont have a solution for that problem.
Maybe try contacting Keith at GDE for help.

from Engine Codes.com
P0610 - Transmission Coding Error
Possible causes
- ECM Harness power supply circuit is open or shorted
- ECM Programing
- Faulty ECM

all serious issues....

Dead ECM was my fear.

Since I get connection with the scanner I wanna assume that its not fried just some sort of loss of programming.
Is there any way to rule out harness issues or verify ECM as the culprit?

I have been planning to get a GDE tune, guess its time to find the funds.

there are a few reports that i know of and myself included in it that when you do a major overhaul job like this the ecm wire otherwise working fine get a short circuit along the way and cause unnecessary head aches in mine case it was rusted pin on number 3 connector and after :banghead: couple of hour it was fixed.

P0073 for me was because I forgot to connect the headlight connector when putting together the headlight header back on.

I can confirm the engine will run with this code. As I recently got mine running again, I tested in the garage before everything was back together. Runs just fine other than throwing the code, which goes away after you plug the harness in.

So got around to buying a new battery to completely rule out that as an issue. Still no start.

If my glow plugs were bad or not connected correctly would that throw a code? Is there a way to test them?

The P0610 code is still my fear, since there is no easy fix.

Hopefully I can get it running, the girlfriend wants it out of the garage and keeps mentioning selling it.

P0610 will not stop the CRD from starting, one of mine has been running just fine for 4 or 5 years with the same code. It just thinks you have a standard tranny and the engine does not care.

This sounds like an electrical problem to me.
I'd get a spray bottle of contact cleaner and remove
every connector I have touched and inspect and spray it.

It is worth noting that the 06 has a known issue with electrical shorts for the harness behind the fuel filter.
