Can anyone help with the source of red warning light that is similar to a lightning bolt above the low fuel indicator? I am new to the CRD world and this forum, thank you. This is on an 05 with 62,000-runs great. Light vanished after restarting the CRD.

From the 05 Liberty Manual:
29. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Warning Light —
If Equipped
This light informs you of a problem with the
Electronic Throttle Control system. If a problem
is detected the light will come on while the
engine is running. Cycle the ignition key when
the vehicle has completely stopped and the gear selector
is placed in the P (Park) position. The light should turn off.
If the light remains lit with the engine running your
vehicle will usually be drivable, however, see your dealer
for service as soon as possible. If the light is flashing
when the engine is running, immediate service is required
and you may experience reduced performance, an
elevated/rough idle or engine stall and your vehicle may
require towing. The light will come on when the ignition
is first turned on and remain on briefly as a bulb check.
If the light does not come on during starting, have the
system checked by an authorized dealer.

It usually means your alternator is going bad, but I would suggest you check the wiring harness where it comes into the firewall to make sure it isn't rubbing through the insulation anywhere.

I remember a post about people who drove 2 footed had this problem, I just can't remember 100% if it was the red lightning bolt symbol...

2 footed can do it as can one foot if that foot is wide or otherwise placed so it touches both brake and go pedal at same time. Not hard to do as many current vehicles have the brake pedal way too close to the go pedal and at similar levels.

Also having same issue with ETC Light...it can represent that over fueling is happening. I cleaned MAP sensor and still lights up. I am thinking that a bad glow plug would also cause this ETC light to "fire up". Does your check engine light come on also???

depending of what ECU software revison you have , the ETC flashing light may be a GP problem , try to restart the engine after warm up , if the light shut off , then is a GP failure related , pulling a code is the best way to know what happened , in the last revison the ETC light come on for always electric problem
