I have several friends that swear by this brand of oil.

Is anyone using the Amsoil 5W-40 in place of the Mobil 0W-40.

I have read a post or three of improved mileage while using the Amsoil brand.

Thanks,

Tom

I'm changing over to Amsoil this weekend during the first oil change. I run Amsoil HDD 5W-30 in my PowerStroke, and Amsoil recommends the same oil for the CRD. They say it has the most robust additive package of any of their oils.

I also use Amsoil, have used it on my last two gas rigs so I'm not going to change now. Collectively there's 440,000 miles on the last 2 rigs without an internal engine problem of any kind. One rig that has the full treatment including the drive oils and greases has never had a drive unit, greased fitting or joint touched in 15 years of towing and offroading.

Well, at least I THOUGHT I was going to change over to Amsoil this weekend. Went to the local NAPA and picked up an 8mm allen socket and 3/8" breaker bar and even that would not budge that darn oil drain plug. I guess I could have used a cheater pipe, but I'm afraid of the threads coming out with the plug. I'll take it in to my local mechanic and have him change it over for me, as well as Amsoil in the tranny, transfer case, and diffs. Anybody else have problems with the drain plug, or did VM just get the torque wrench set wrong the day they built mine?
