I changed out the ATF and the filters in the transmission today. At the bottom of the pan and on the magnet, there was a noticeable amount of ultra fine metal fragments. Is this normal?

Prior to this, I noticed some hard shifting between gears. After a test drive, however, everything seems good again. Thoughts?

Yes, that is normal and that is why the magnet is there!
When I serviced my transmission last year, I added a Magnefine in-line oil filter to catch those ultra-fine metal particles and hopefully keep them out of the valve body where they can do damage....

Yes, normal, but you shouldn't be able to feel any particles when you rub it between your thumb and finger. It's more like metal sludge.

That's exactly what they looked and felt like. No reason to worry then. This forum has again proven it's usefulness.
